Description: This spell conjures a large, 10-foot long rubbery black tentacle that immediately attempts to grasp a target adjacent to it. The tentacles can spring forth from the earth, floor, or any horizontal surface (even water). A target that you choose must make a strength saving throw or be grappled (level 2) by the tentacle. At the start of their turn, grappled creatures automatically take 1d6+4 bludgeoning damage. A creature can attempt to escape the tentacle as a standard action by making a Strength or Dexterity Save. As a standard action, you can command the tentacle to release a target and attempt to attack a different one, provided they are adjacent to it.
Leveling: At level 4, this spell creates a field of black tentacles in a 20-foot radius. When a creature enters the area or starts their turn there, they must make a strength saving throw or be grappled by the tentacles. Like the level 3 version of the spell, grappled creatures take 1d6+4 bludgeoning damage at the beginning of their turns, and can use a standard action to escape from the tentacles (Strength or Dexterity save).
