Summon Shadow

1st level Necromancy

Classes: Sorcerer, Witch, Wizard

Domains: Death

Components: V, S

Casting Time: 1 rd

Range: 60 ft

Effect: Summoned Shadow

Duration: 1 round / level

Spell Resistance: No

Description: You summon a lesser shadow, the spirit of a depraved soul that wasted away to a lonely death. Your shadow has all the capabilities of a lesser shadow except that it cannot create spawn. As a bonus action, you can telepathically control the actions of the shadow. It will follow your directions to the best of its ability, allowing you to use most actions or abilities it has at its disposal (see summoning rules for limitations on summoned creatures). You can only control one summoned creature at a time with your bonus action. That control lasts until the start of your next turn, so you will need to use your bonus action each round to continue to direct it. Undirected creatures will perform no actions that round, though they will still threaten adjacent squares and do their best to defend themselves and avoid harm. As a free action, you can transfer (or suspend) control of any summoned creatures to allies that you can see within 60 feet. The summoned fiend remains at your service until the spell expires or until it is reduced to 0 hit points, at which point is disappears.

Leveling: At level 2, you can summon 2 lesser shadows. At level 3, you summon 4 lesser shadows. At level 4, you summon a regular shadow, though you can still summon 4 lesser shadows instead, if you want. At level 5, you summon 2 shadows. At level 6, you can summon a greater shadow or 4 shadows. At level 7, you can summon 2 greater shadows, and at level 8, you can summon 4 of them.
