Animated Object Template
Those who wield arcane energy can often control normal, everyday objects, making them take on the semblance of life. These animated objects can be created out of almost anything, though they are usually completely under the control of their creators. "Animated Object" is an acquired template that can be added to any object.
Stats
- Hit Points: Animated objects do not have hit points, but they retain the same hardness and integrity points that a typical object of its type would have before being enchanted. Rules for damaging objects are used for damaging animated objects as well.
- AC: All animated objects have an AC of 14.
- Speed: Animated objects up to size large have a speed of 30. Huge objects have a speed of 20. Objects larger than that have a speed of 10.
- Ability Scores: Animated objects have no Con, Wis, Int, or Cha scores. All animated objects have a magically enhanced dexterity of 14. Their strength depends on their size: Tiny (9), Small (10), Medium (12), Large (16), Huge (20), Gargantuan (24), Colossal (28)
- Saving Throws: Animated objects are immune to any effects that require a Constitution or mental saving throw. Their Dex and Str saves are equal to their ability bonuses.
- Senses: low-light and darkvision
- Improved Grappling - Animated objects use their CR + Str bonus as their grapping score.

Actions
Animated objects may also have the following actions.
Blind (Ex) - A sheet-like animated object such as a carpet or tapestry can grapple an opponent up to three sizes larger than itself. The object makes a normal grapple check. If it wins, it wraps itself around the opponent's head, causing that creature to be blinded until removed.
Constrict (Ex) - A flexible animated object such as a rope, vine, or rug has the constrict ability. Each time it successfully hits an opponent, it can make a grapple check as a free action to see if it holds its opponent. If successful, the creature is grappled. On any successful grapple check (including this initial one) the target automatically takes bludgeoning damage equal to the damage typically dealt by this attack. An object of at least Large size can make constriction attacks against multiple creatures at once, if they all are at least two sizes smaller than the object and can fit under it.
Trample (Ex) - An animated object of at least Large size and with a hardness of at least 10 can trample creatures two or more sizes smaller than itself. As a full-round action, the object can attempt to overrun creatures by simply moving through their squares. Targets in the path take regular damage (Dex save for half). Targets who fail the save are also knocked prone. Those who remain on their feet can make a standard attack of opportunity.
Qualities
As a construct, animated objects cannot heal on their own. Mending, not cure wounds, must be cast on them to heal. In some circumstances, a craft check with the proper tools, material, and time may also heal the object.
