Zombies are reanimated corpses. Because of their utter lack of intelligence, the instructions given to a newly created zombie must be very simple. "Zombie" is an acquired template that can be added to any corporeal creature (other than an undead) that has a skeletal system (referred to hereafter as the base creature). Zombies use all the base creature's statistics and abilities except as noted below.
A zombie's natural armor bonus depends on its size.
Skeleton Size | Natural Armor Bonus | Size Bonus to AC |
---|---|---|
Tiny or smaller | +0 | +2 |
Small | +1 | +1 |
Medium | +2 | +0 |
Large | +3 | -1 |
Huge | +4 | -2 |
Gargantuan | +6 | -4 |
Colossal | +10 | -8 |
A zombie's combat proficiency bonus is equal to half its hit dice. It retains all the natural weapons, weapon proficiencies, and armor proficiencies of the base creature. A zombie retains its normal attacks but also gains a slam attack. Since it is staggered, it can only use one of these attacks at a time. It's slam attack deals 1d6 bludgeoning damage for small, medium, and large creatures. Smaller creatures deal 1d2 damage; larger creatures deal 2d6. However, if the base creature has a slam attack that is better, use that instead. Any extraordinary abilities that improve its melee or ranged attacks are also retained by the zombie. A zombie loses most qualities of the base creature. Zombies have poor reflexes and can only perform a single move action or standard action each round. A zombie can move up to its speed and attack in the same round as a charge action. Refer to the new HD total of the zombie to determine its challenge rating.Attacks
